We regret to inform all of the Alumni and the class
of 1970 that Frank Poole passed away on February 26, 2014, at his home
in Winchester, Virginia surrounded by his family.
He was born October 3, 1950 in
Alexandria, VA, the son of Joseph Lawrence and Norma Mae Darley Poole
and raised, for much of his life, by his mother and step father, Nelson
Floyd Bright.
Frank attended Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA and then
George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he studied
Emergency Medical Services. He served in the US Marine Corps during
Vietnam and married Glenna F. Clark on July 31, 1970 in Fairfax, VA.
Frank worked as a Paramedic Supervisor for Fairfax County Fire & Rescue
for almost 29 years before he retired. After retiring he worked selling
cars for Winchester Ford and then for Jim Stutzman Chevrolet Cadillac
where he has been since 2005. Frank was very active in Winchester Elks
Lodge, where he served as Trustee and was 1st Vice President for the
Virginia Elks Association. He was also a member of the VFW, the American
Legion, and a former member of the Winchester Host Lions Club and The
Moose.
In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his daughter,
Anna Utt, and husband, Brian, of Winchester; his son, Andru Lance Poole
of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren, Forrest Hayden Smith of Exton, PA
and Blake Andrew Smith of Winchester; three brothers, Joseph Lawrence
Poole of Springfield, VA, Kenneth Michael Poole of Longwood, FL, and
Nelson Floyd Bright, Jr. also of Springfield; a sister, Robin Solebello
of Seabring, FL.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, March 7, 2014 from
7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester.
A memorial service will held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm at
Jones Funeral Home. The service and honors will by officiated by Fairfax
County Fire and Rescue.
