We are
sorry to inform the Class of '71 and the Lee community
that Pete Shatswell passed away Tuesday,
August 1, 2006 of heatstroke at the
age of
53 in Charlottesville,
Virginia.
He was in the class of 1971 from
freshmen year to senior year, but decided to quit school
in January 1971. He was in Key Club, a member of
the class senate, and yearbook photographer and was very
involved in all high school activities up until January
of 1971.
Peter Alfred 'Pete' Shatswell
Internet TraderPeter Alfred "Pete" Shatswell, died at
the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
A former Springfield resident, he was living in
Spotsylvania County at the time of his death.
Mr. Shatswell was
born in Beverly, Mass., and raised in
Springfield, where he attended Robert E.
Lee High School. In addition to his work
as a trader, he had been a photographer
and had worked on horse farms. He also
had done retail work.
He was a member of Salem Fields
Community Church in Fredericksburg,
Railroad Friends and a computer club. He
also volunteered at Hospice Support Care
in Fredericksburg.
His marriage to Joanne Stim Shatswell
ended in divorce.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years,
Pauline Crist Shatswell of Spotsylvania;
his mother, Elizabeth Thayer "Betsy"
Shatswell of Springfield; and a brother,
Bruce Ashby Shatswell of Reston.
