In Memoriam

Sharon Gayle
Rice Yeager

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

We are sorry to inform the Class of '60 and the Lee community that Sharon Rice Yeager passed away  February 2, 2024 .

It is with great sadness we share that Sharon Gayle Yeager passed away on February 2, 2024, at the age of 81.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many and will be greatly missed. She is survived by husband, Robert W. Yeager, son Greg Fine (Karen), daughter Gayle Rempfer (Tommy), stepdaughters Tracy Becraft (Christopher) and Kristine Richardson, grandchildren Samantha Rosga, TJ Rempfer and Boston Fine and step granddaughters Kendall and Sydney Becraft. Also, her younger sister Linda Cumberworth (Chuck).

Preceded in death by her parents Colonel Johnny M. Rice and Doris Rice as well as her brother Gary Rice. Sharon was born October 21, 1942, in San Antonio, TX.

Her father served in the US Army, so Sharon was considered an Army brat and moved around during her childhood. She attended Yokohama High School in Japan and Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia. She attended Texas Women’s University and University of Oklahoma where she graduated and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Sharon was a real estate broker for many years and ended her long working career as a US Government Systems Accountant for the US Army as a civilian. Sharon loved animals, golfing, bowling, sewing, shopping, playing cards, and traveling the world. Mostly she loved spending time with her family and friends whom she adored.w.YOTO.org.
