From Dwight
Hamner:
It is with deep
sadness that I announce the death of my good friend and our 1969
classmate Del Weathers, formerly of 6007 Frontier Dr, and lately of
Saratoga CA. Del died January 23, 2003 of a ruptured cranial aneurysm
at Saratoga Hospital. He is survived by his second wife Ralphine, and
two children, Eric 25 and Katie 21.
After a lifetime of seeking happiness, Del had finally found it in
Northern California with his wife and their many friends. Del and I
both shared the same background. Our fathers were Army Corps of
Engineers career men from very small, very poor towns who escaped
because of World War II. Del and I were born in the same post (Ft.
Leonard Wood, MO) in the same hospital, and as kids we followed our
families to the same Engineer posts, finally winding up at Lee in the
mid '60's. He went to Tech, I went to UVA, but we stayed close. I was
best man at both his weddings. According to his wishes, his ashes are
now a part of the Maui landscape.
If you knew Del, you knew that the glass was always half full. It was
my privilege to know him, and be his friend.
