James F. Woodward

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind


It is with deepest regrets, that we must inform all R.E. Lee High School Alumni and the Class of 1969 that James F. Woodward passed away on May 29, 2012.

James was born in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 3, 1950
and recently
resided in Alexandria, VA.

James Franklin "Woody" Woodward, 61, of Alexandria VA passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Capital Hospice after a valiant fight against cancer.

James graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Springfield, VA in 1969.

He began a long and distinguished career as a Teamster in January 1973, until his passing. During more than 35 years as a Teamster, James served as trustees for Local 639 and Local 246; serving as Business Agent, Recording Secretary, and International Representative for the International Brotherhood of the Teamsters Union for Local 639. While at Local 639, he represented the construction industry, the Exhibits and Trade show, and other various industries: and served as Trustee for the Health and Pension Trust. He served as a delegate to six International Conventions from 1981 to 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra Woodward of Alexandria, VA; his son James "Pete" Woodward and his wife Valery, of Las Vega, NV; and Nicole Woodward Felise, and her husband Lino, of Jeffersonton, VA. He is also survived by his brothers, Randy Moore, Vernon Moore, Joe Woodward, Donald Moore and his sisters Jody Woodson, Shirley Constantino, Mary Jean Wiley and Terry Browning. He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Juliet Woodward, his brothers Robert Woodward and Walter Scott, Jr. and his sisters Juliet Shifflett and Lena Moore.

James requested no service or memorial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James's name to Capital Hospice and American Cancer Society.

The family wants to extend their sincere thanks for those who have shared and contributed to James's life and successes. He will be missed by his family, friends, and many work associates and acquaintances.
