In Memoriam

Linda Emert
Tomblin

A Lancer out of sight
Never out of mind

We are sorry to inform the class of '67 and whole Lee community that Linda Emert Tomblin, of Locust Grove, Virginia, died on Saturday February 26, 2011.

Linda was born on Jan. 30, 1949, in Williamsport, Pa., and was raised in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Emert; and her brother, Gary Emert.

She is survived by her loving husband, Franklin "Tommy" Tomblin; her devoted daughter, Leslie and husband Lee Elliott; and her devoted son, Troy Kearns and wife Trisha, all of Locust Grove. She was also the proud grandmother of Christopher Elliott and girlfriend Jessica Largen; Justin Elliott and girlfriend Kasey Blackwell, Ryan Kearns and Michael Land. She is also survived by her sister, Karen Emert; her brother, Scott Emert and his wife, Julie; and her nephew and niece, Spencer and Sara Emert. In addition, she is survived by her very best friend, Pamela Bryant of Locust Grove; and by Cindy Reney of Lorton, who was like a daughter to her.

Linda loved everyone. She was known to many as "Grandma." She loved spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered by all for her smile, her giving ways and her beautiful, loving spirit. She was always there to provide a helping hand to all who needed it.

A celebration of Linda's life was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
