Congratulations to Hamza Ijaz, our recipient of the 2011 Lee Alumni and Friends Association $1000 scholarship. 

LAFA received applications from 15 seniors in this our 13th consecutive year of awarding scholarships.  All had excellent academic records, had made outstanding contributions to R.E. Lee High School, and were well rounded scholars, athletes and musicians.  

Hamza will graduate with a 4.431 grade point average having earned As in all his course work including 13 International Baccalaureate (IB) classes.  He will attend George Mason University in the Fall.

During his time at R.E. Lee he was a member and often officer of the Math Honor Society and National Honor Society, participated in Winter and Spring track, tutored fellow students in math, science and Spanish, went the Virginia Science Fair as a regional winner, and was class president his junior and senior years.

Congratulations again to Hamza and our thanks go to the other 14 outstanding applicants.
